CONTRO LE ONDE
Against the waves
2017- 2018 Contro le onde comes from a recurring sensation that the author lives every time she returns to her homeland. The perception of the slow passage of time is combined with the narration of places changed and inhabited by solitary characters, suspended protagonists of autobiographical experiences. The act of screaming against the waves of the sea becomes a metaphor for the abatement of a condition not only physical, but also mental, and a state of mind such as the continuous and tormenting confrontation with the places of the past and the constant search for new goals that can calm this feeling.
The author remembers her past and perceives it differently from how she had lived it. Places and people assume a different meaning compared to what had been and every event turns out to be a rediscovered time that allows her to tell her memories from a more mature point of view.

For the author the act of walking in complete solitude along the seashore, especially during the cold winter, has always been a meditative and reflective act, a solitary performance for herself, but which now feels the need to to share.
Contro le onde then becomes a project completed by a video installation, the result of a collaboration between the author and the Argentine violinist Hernàn Paulitti. The two artists have combined the power of two different languages and expressions, weaving non-static images and music, emphasizing the feelings and the personal homesickness that the author relives every time she returns to her place of origin or the land that imagines from miles away.
